Why is taking self-responsibility so difficult?
Why is taking self-responsibility so difficult? That’s what I’m digging into on today’s podcast. I think that it has something to do with the places where we buy into a good vs bad, right vs wrong binary–one where we are afraid that if we take self-responsibility for our own mistakes, we are officially “bad” people who will be forever branded this way.
Understanding that this shame-based binary is at work, is not just helpful for understanding. It’s also the key to getting out from under this pattern. When you aren’t locked into thinking that you’re “bad” if you make certain mistakes, it gets easier to start taking self-responsibility. Taking responsibility for your life in this way is a powerful way to practice courage.
